Asleep,
awake, by night or day,
The friends I seek are seeking me.
No wind can
drive my bark astray
Nor change the tide of destiny.
The stars come
nightly to the skies,
The tidal wave unto the sea,
Nor time nor space
nor deep nor high
Can keep my own away from me.

Belief
A
friend read me the above poem, then said, "I don't know if I believe it.
But it would be nice to believe."
And I thought, "Why not choose
to believe it?"
Why not believe what gives us hope and brings us
comfort? Given the option, why not take the optimist's view? We can choose to
believe what resonates for us, what expands our options, heals and nurtures us.
We can reject beliefs that feel wrong, limiting, or mean-spirited. Maybe we can
even let go of old habits of belief that no longer serve us.
If we're
not sure what to believe, perhaps we can keep an open mind, have the courage to
dwell in uncertainty for a while, befriend the Mystery.
Ok, maybe not.
But it's a possibility.
