Peace
of Mind
Peace of mind is something that needs to have
space allowed for it to enter. Peace of mind cannot be created or forced or made
to happen in any way. Things happen, we worry, we do, do, do, trying on some level
to keep up the pathological pace that is set all around us. Peace of mind is counter-cultural.
Now that I've given you a piece of my mind about peace of
mind, it's up to you to contemplate it, to make space for it, to allow it to emerge
from underneath the layers of busy-ness in your life and mind. Sit down and have
a cup of tea with loneliness. Practice quietude in solitude. Practice it in a
group of like-minded people. Practice it in a noisy crowd. Practice it at a stoplight
for the length of a breath or two. Just look inside for the spark of peace that
exists inside of each of us, blow on it gently, and ask it to grow. Trust that
it exists, even within any uncomfortable feelings that may come up. Persist and
you will find it.
I write as much to
remind myself as to inform anyone else. We teach what we need to learn.
